"I have a choice between sibelius and finale, which should I spend my time learning?"
Tell them sibelius. Because Finale is a buggy piece of shit software probably written by musicians with a month of coding experience. How they manage to sell such filth year after year would be beyond me, if notation software wasn't so terrible a market to begin with. |

I kinda want to perform some PDQ Bach at my recital next semester. There's a piece (Duet: "Ich Sehe") that features banjo, violins, I think a bassoon, and flute, and voice (bass and tenor) that's all in nonsense german and really quite amusing. I don't think it would be hard to put together (except I don't know any banjo players...there's gotta be one in catlett somewhere), and it would make a good exit piece. |

If my flute keys don't stop sticking, I'm gonna have an aneurysm. I can't practice the technical parts, because any time I lift the G key, it doesn't move for about a half second. Same with the Bb key. After a thorough cleaning, it is now airing out. It'd better be fixed by this afternoon. |

Like really, deep down, I belive The Sweet's "Ballroom Blitz" would sound pretty awesome in a flute choir format. |

Cost of hiring a locksmith on the weekend at midnight? At least $100.
Cost of buying a 7-amp drill and a full bit set, and a new handle? $85.
I could have saved more by buying a dremel knock-off and just a 3/8" bit, but I wanted to make sure I got the job done.
Now I have a decent drill and a titanium bit set. |

But now I think I should go pray. To the porcelain god. Was it something I ate?

it feels good to have workouts scheduled. Nothing kicks my ass more than having appointments in writing. |

I really, really, really suck at writing counterpoint. I don't know why. Every exercise takes me forever and never comes out sounding good. |

What a day.
Concert went pretty well, I thought. We were all flat, but we were all flat together.
Afterwards, Mary Jane cornered me, asked me if I was on drugs or an alcoholic, recommended I seek counseling, and then told me she put in the paperwork to have me fired. I'm so glad I quit, though I'm about 2% disappointed it won't leave me with a reference. One of the guards told me Amber quit, too. I knew something like that would happen. I'm not the only one who things MJ is a little crazy.
Chorale is really freakin hard, much more challenging than any other ensemble I've been in. I love it. Just makes me more resentful of this bullshit with the band. I'm surprised at the quality of the other basses, though. Maybe I really am just that good? Seems hard to believe. I want to talk to Dr. Greenlee.
I'm also disappointed that I turned into a little child in band yesterday when Jahnke started patronizing me. I can't stand the man, but I'm a big boy and I should be able to fake it for 90 minutes 3 times a week. |

for a bunch of guys, I think we eat pretty reasonably. Lots of home cooking, sandwiches, fresh foods, and only a little bit of real junk.
Now, the beer fridges... |

I sorta want to start shooting. Guns are cool (Jim's dad's were pretty great, though I wish the AK had worked), but I'm thinking maybe bow. Less law to worry about (even though in OK there's barely any law anyway), and shooting a bow is awesome.
EDIT: maybe I'm just feeling wild. I also just had the mad urge to throw 3 liters of water and enough food for a snack and breakfast into my daypack and disappearing for the night. *sigh* |

So apparently the world is in need of a flute choir version of boomer sooner. Sigh.
Is there a traditional key it's played in? also, fast four, slow cut, or fast 2? |

I'm such a fatty (on the inside, mostly). I'm training myself to eat less (like after a backpacking trip. I can never eat a full serving of anything. It's great.), but it means I'm hungry, pretty much all the time.
200 by end of semester, 185 by april 1. Both reasonable goals.
So I probably need some recipes. Josh, I recall you used to make some darned good smoothies - do you still? What did you put in them? |
