FSU go boom. Tomorrow, OSU goes down against Michigan state (probably their hardest game all season, despite playing #23 Purdue and #25 Michigan), or Michigan gets on the ball eventually and beats them in week 10. Auburn comes off a tough win against Arkansas and beats a disheartened LSU team. A week from tomorrow (they have a break this week), Boston College goes down against Virginia Tech, their toughest game all year, and only one of two ranked teams they play (#11, they beat #15 Georgia Tech).

3 teams ahead of us:

Ohio State will play 2 ranked teams this season, ranked #23 and #25.
Boston College will also play 2 ranked teams this season, #11 and #15.
LSU will play 5 ranked teams, 2 of them in the top ten. The hardest part of their season is over, just as soon as they pass Auburn. Yet, over the last few games it seems like it's so close to all crumbling to pieces.

Oklahoma plays 3 ranked teams this year, none of them in the top ten. We have a rookie QB. But we do an awful lot of butt-kicking. Tech will be our big challenge, and then who knows for the big 12? Kansas? Doubtful. KU's been prancing around with the likes of Baylor and Florida International for 7 weeks. Coming up, they've got A&M, O(klahoma)SU, and of course Mizzou. Mizzou seems the obvious favorite out of the B12N, but if they fall again, and Kansas pulls a miracle for just a few more weeks, I'd be just fine with kicking their butt for the Big 12 Championship.

I kinda want to perform some PDQ Bach at my recital next semester. There's a piece (Duet: "Ich Sehe") that features banjo, violins, I think a bassoon, and flute, and voice (bass and tenor) that's all in nonsense german and really quite amusing. I don't think it would be hard to put together (except I don't know any banjo players...there's gotta be one in catlett somewhere), and it would make a good exit piece.

I'm reviewing pictures. I see that I have experienced more of the best parts of America this summer than many people will their entire lives. I have gone through 2 weeks of the most stressful and fun schooling I can remember, and now I can set a broken bone on top of a mountain. I've climbed several mountains, and hiked to the colorado river and back in one day. I saw mount rushmore and yellowstone with my little brothers. I covered nearly 10,000 miles by automobile in 3 months. I rowed a canoe all the way to Copperhead Island, something my 8-year-old self dreamed of doing. I got engaged. I was inside a cloud at the top of a mountain. I did 2 sets of combat abs. I bought 2 pairs of chacos. I got a car.

A good summer.

Right now I'm looking at a page that says, simply, "

Harry Potter
and the Deathly Hallows
By
J.K. Rowling
Illustrations by Mary Grandpre

Arthur A Leviny Books
An imprint of Scholastic Inc

"

Ridiculous. I thought there was "security" this time around!

apparently, I don't know how to wash a car. Wheels clean, upholstery vacuumed (cleaning to come tomorrow, probably), vinyl is in progress. I even got all the pine tar off the hood and roof. But I can't figure out how to make the sudsy stuff work. I got suds, I got cloths, I got a sprayer. But the side I washed looks exactly like the unwashed side, except for the bonus water spots. What the hell? I can't believe I'm reduced to reading the instructions on the back of a bottle of soap.

Now I smell like gasoline and soap, and I'm going to miss happy hour.
